Summary

It's not often you come across a video game based around the idea of a game show. Well certainly not an actual game show anyway, although people have tried in the past (with not the greatest of results). Whacked, however, classes itself as such a show - the world's most irreverent and dangerous one, to be exact.

Generally based around the concept of fast and furious combat, Whacked features eight demented contestants who are pitted against each other in a variety of different games. Objectives such as carrying a trophy for the longest or stealing opponents' stars will be given at the start, but the idea nearly always revolves around running around the given arena and attacking other players with whatever weapons you can get your hands on.

The cast of characters is amusingly bizarre, the array of contestants each having their own quirky personalities and unique traits. Otto, the emaciated, narcoleptic dude who lets his recliner do all the work and Lucy, whose sinfully attractive body is surpassed only by her cunning ability to use it (she's naked, guys!) are just two of them.

A selection of multiple gameplay modes is on offer. You can choose from Combat Mode, in which players fight each other in a race to collect resources, Chicken mode, which pits you against a horde of man-eating chickens in a quest to stay alive, or other modes including King of the Hill, Grab 'n' Run, Fragfest and Dodgeball.

Whacked benefits from a fairly novel concept but the actual gameplay is something we have seen before. The game is well presented and amusing at times, but offers little in the way of a single-player experience. Make sure you save this one for parties.
