Summary

3DO, the company responsible for numerous video games franchises, including Army Men have taken their Might and Magic games one step further with the release of Legends of Might and Magic for PC. Once again, fans of the series will embark upon a conquest for good versus evil on an epic scale. You will travel to distant fantasy-themed worlds, but not all is happy in the land of Might and Magic. There are also bloodstained battlefields and perilous dungeons that must be crossed. Do you have what it takes to overcome the might of evil? The challenge is yours, should you choose to accept it.

Developed in full 3D, and new for 2001, Legends of Might and Magic is the most advanced instalment to date. The environments are stunningly rendered, reasonably well detailed, and they run smoothly. Of course the visual prowess of the game depends partly on the spec of the PC, so a high spec graphics card is advisable. Once again, there are various character classes to choose from (wizards, warriors, etc), each of them having unique role-playing attributes such as strength, speed and magic. Weapons also play a large part in Might and Magic; some do little or no damage, while some of the hard-to-find weapons are highly damaging and worth searching for. You must always use what you have resourcefully, and to the best of your advantage.

As it stands, Legends of Might and Magic is a worthwhile role-playing game. It’s not original, but it’s typical RPG fun. Enjoy.
