Summary

Have you ever wanted to jump from an aeroplane and feel the adrenaline rush of free fall? Watching the world come spinning towards you as you plummet to earth? Before pulling your chute and gently glide to the surface. Or what about strapping a board onto your feet just to make the experience a bit more fun?

This is Sky Surfer for the PlayStation 2. Essentially, it is a virtual version of the aforementioned thrills. You plummet to earth, spinning and tricking before floating back to the landing zone. You have a gauge that let’s you judge your position in relation to the surface and only when you have yourself perfectly lined up, can you do tricks.

Let’s be honest here, the control method is appalling. Even thought the game deserves points for originality, it is frustrating to play. A lot of the time you lose control and lose you turn without understanding what went wrong. Graphically, most of the game you just see clouds passing you by, how exciting. There is a balloon popping sub-game, which is best avoided.

Overall, good idea for a game but poorly executed.
