Summary

Remember Ape Escape? The work of Sony Computer Entertainment America, the PlayStation classic involved rounding up a pack of cheeky escaped primates with a variety of wacky techniques. Light sabres, nets and helicopters all featured in the quest to put the cheeky simians back in their cages, and now the game is being reborn to feature in the release line-up for the PSP handheld console.

Going by the name of Ape Academy, the sequel bursts onto the PSP’s widescreen with a new generation of apes to capture. Taking a leaf out of the Mario Party book, not to mention a certain other monkey-derived, subgame-rich popular title, the game takes the form of a series of minigames, and, taking advantage of the PSP’s WiFi capabilities, you can challenge all-comers instantly, with no wires attached.

There are 45 of these minigames included so it’s sure to take you a while to master the lot and declare yourself champion of monkey-related madness. Whether it's the one metre dash, or any other of the skill and timing-based games on offer, there are lessons for everyone in this academy, not least that of learning to love your mischievous animal buddies.
