Summary
Another Harry Potter movie, another Harry Potter game. And why not? Hogwart's straight-A student is returning for a second year in a brand new adventure, The Chamber of Secrets.
Ignoring Dobby the house-elf's grave warning that disaster will strike if he returns to Hogwart's, Harry embarks on his second year only to succumb to the knowledge that Dobby's predictions are true. Harry soon finds himself entangled in a dark plot against his classmates, as students become petrified one by one. That's turned to stone to you and me. Could Draco Malfoy be to blame, or is something even more malevolent at work? With the help of returning friends Hermione, Ron, Hagrid and Hedwig, players attend new classes to learn second-year spells that will aid them in a quest to uncover the true identity of the "Heir of Slytherin".
Rendered in beautiful 3D with fantastical free-roaming environments, players assume the role of the legendary junior wizard and delve not only into Harry's world, but also into his personality. Conversing with unique characters like Moaning Myrtle, shopping in Diagon Alley, and exploring the convoluted corridors of Hogwart's, players make crucial and independent decisions that could well affect future events in the game.
Additionally, Harry can cast a broad range of spells against foes, but these magical abilities must be perfectly executed, or they could be miscast with humorous or critical consequences. Mini-games within each level can also be revisited, and players can attempt minor tasks such as 'de-gnoming' Mrs Weasley's garden and challenging other students in Professor Lockhart's Duelling Club.
Another faithful representation of the Harry Potter universe and its magic, PlayStation 2's Chamber of Secrets is a great adventure, and one that avid Harry Potter fans will be particularly fond of.
