Touted by developer Nival and publisher CDV as not just a Real Time Strategy game, but a Real Time War game, Blitzkrieg's aim is to provide the player with a historically accurate playing experience that bypasses most of the drudgery commonly associated with RTS titles.
The campaigns featured in Blitzkrieg are based on real theatres of World War II, including Africa, Russia and Europe. You have the choice of taking part as an Allied, German or Soviet commander, with varying tactics and approaches needed for each chapter in the campaign according to the current state of affairs and the condition of your men.
Blitzkrieg is a game of massive proportions, with 200+ types of vehicles and hardware, more than 40 types of infantry, hundreds of Russian, German and Allied units, and the ability to improve and extend your army and the technology available to it through rank promotions and special missions. Blitzkrieg's scenarios recreate the battles of World War II, but you're the one with the opportunity to rewrite history as you see fit.
World War II went on for six years; Blitzkrieg is a thoroughly engrossing experience who's to say that this won't go on even longer? The manual alone can provide bedtime reading for a week or so, so prepare for some long dark nights of order-issuing.
