CDV Software, master of the wartime strategy genre, has announced that its 3D perspective, World War II-based, real time strategy game Blitzkrieg, will be published on May 16. Blitzkrieg will test the gamer's strategic expertise to the limit. It requires finesse, precision, a command of military tactics and sound man-management techniques. Your troops, if commanded skilfully, will gain experience and fight more effectively.
The missions in Blitzkrieg are based on the theatres of World War II, including Russia, Africa and Europe. You have the choice of taking part as a German, Allied or Soviet commander, with different tactics and approaches required for each scenario according to the state of affairs and the condition of your army.
"Blitzkrieg builds on CDV's proven expertise in the RTS genre with an unprecedented sense of 'being there'," says Terry Malham, CDV's UK president. "The game is highly atmospheric – the large number of units, the landscape, even the weather all combine to immerse the player in the action."
Blitzkrieg has been designed on an epic scale, with more than 200 types of vehicles and machinery, more than 40 kinds of infantry, hundreds of Russian, German and Allied units, and the ability to extend and improve your army and available technology through promotions and special missions. The scenarios accurately re-create the battles of World War II – but you can rewrite history through skilful deployment of your forces.
CDV Software has built up an enviable reputation for top quality strategy games over the last three years, with the Sudden Strike series, and Cossacks and its successors, Back To War and American Conquest. Blitzkrieg looks set to confirm the company's position as Europe's leading strategy game publisher.
Blitzkrieg will be published by CDV Software Entertainment UK on May 16, priced £34.99.
