Archer Maclean’s Jimmy White’s Cueball 2 for the PC is an extremely polished and comprehensive game. Value for money is the order of the day because Cueball 2 features no less than six games. In addition to the Pool and Snooker, there are sub games that include darts, draughts, Dropzone and even a fruit machine. Each one of these games is of sufficient quality to be released individually.

The snooker side of this package is realistic and addictive. The physics are spot on and the balls move as you would expect. Which is a programming feat in itself when you consider the effect of spin on the balls and how this changes the natural angle. An aiming line can be toggled on or off to provide increased accuracy if you so desire. When you understand how the cueball will react after making contact with an object ball if you’ve placed spin on it, then you can start to play positional snooker. Potting a difficult shot and landing nicely on the next shot is a wonderful feeling. Cueball 2 will play with your emotions.

The pool simulation is fast, fun and accessible to everyone. You can choose either 8 or 9 ball. The computer puts up a decent challenge and will keep you entertained for many a hour. The two player matches will keep you coming back for months. If you enjoy games of this type, Jimmy White’s Cueball 2 is one of the best around.
