Summary

This port of the Nintendo classic Donkey Kong Junior was an arcade revelation in its day. With graphics even more stunning than the original Donkey Kong and equally involving gameplay.

DK Jr works similar to Donkey Kong; although this time the gameplay is reversed in a sly twist of the story. This time, you play as Donkey Kong Junior - trying to save DK from the evil grasp of Mario. Instead of climbing steel girder, in this revision you climb ropes and swing like a monkey while being chased by small blue and green creatures that require immense amount of skill to avoid.

The original DK became famous for the idea of repeating the same four levels to unlock a higher score; and each time the levels were fully re-done, your points multiplier was incremented. This involved the gamer; seducing him into playing on, getting him addicted to the gameplay, and ultimately adding challenge to a game with a finite number of levels. DK Jr retains this scoring method, but even greater scores can be attained by collecting the fruit pick-ups that deliver a tasty points bonus.
