ECTS Bullish After Dire 2004 Show

Outshone by competitor, seminal UK show promises bounce-back

ECTS. When it was good
ECTS. When it was good
Following ECTS’s trouncing at the hands of Game Stars Live and EGN during this year’s rather bizarre (and arguably unnecessary) London game show battle, the organising body: CMP, remains bullish about the future.

Speaking to MCV, Event Director Andy Lane said, “Lots of exhibitors and visitors were there. It didn't have the big name publishers, but the industry is about more than that and CMP has always been committed to running a wider trade event.”

This, in spite of certain EGN sales people - proudly and clearly disingenuously announcing that “…ECTS has seen less than one hundred through its doors…” in reference to the second day of the show.

“Of course having two trade shows running at the same time was divisive, and we told ELSPA that all along. The expectation was that we would disappear, but we did not and we will still be around in 2005. CMP has invested 15 years in the industry and will come back with an event built on feedback from market,” added Lane. “The ECTS name may remain, it may not. We may come back in September, we may not. But we will be back.”

Oh no, it's totally gone all pear shaped for ECTS. The need to recapture the old school feel, and get back to how it used to be.
