Vib Ribbon II Online announced!
Vib Ribbon entered the revered league of cult gaming even before it was released. Its minimalist aesthetic and music on demand philosophy combined with pure timing-driven gameplay endeared it to the masses, amazing sceptics who’d written it off.

Today, scuppering rumours that the series would not see the light of day again, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has announced that the next instalment, entitled Mojib Ribbon will be released across the world in time for Christmas 2003.

Carrying the tentative title Vib Ribbon II Online in the US and Europe, the game will see players engaging in peer-to-peer music exchange (albeit without the ability to save the tunes) with a heavy community element being planned.

As every song reacts differently in the VR game engine, the ability to pass music about is essentially a mechanic for exchanging an almost limitless amount of levels.

There will be multiple player support, including voice-chat via the PlayStation 2 headset.

We’ll keep you updated as all things ‘Vib’ progress.
