If you live in the USA, you can now have a lightning-proof Xbox. Power surges and electrical storms will have no ill effects on your beloved big black box of goodies.
How can this be? Well, American Power Conversion Corp has been granted the official license to make the Xbox immune to electrical attack, by way of releasing a power protection unit.
“Xbox is one of the most advanced and powerful game systems on the market today given its substantial hard drive, built-in network interface card and incredible sound and graphics capabilities," said Joe Loberti, general manager of APC's Consumer Network Solutions group. "And like any sophisticated electronic system, it can be susceptible to damage as a result of everyday power surges, spikes and lightning. APC's new line of Xbox power protection equipment protects Xbox gamers from these dangers."
A similar protection unit for Europe is also planned.
