Wolfenstein Maker is Bought
A Danish investment organisation called SDN Invest has decided to buy Wolfenstein and Duke Nukem maker 3D Realms.

What we mean, of course, is that the Danes have made a savvy investment move by purchasing this maker of video games. As ever, no money was mentioned in the deal which shows an interesting direction for venture capitalists.

MCV reports that, "SDN in the part-owner and main investor in Danish Rise of the Triad developer Interceptor Entertainment, whose chairman Mike Nielsen (also SDN’s founder and former Coolshop CEO) has now been installed as 3D Realms CEO.

"The deal – which was first mentioned this morning – also sees SDN take charge of Apogee Software Limited who the company stresses is “not to be confused with Apogee Software, LLC – publishers of Rise of the Triad”.

Mike Nielsen states that, “3D Realms is legendary for its contributions to the gaming industry, as both the pioneer of the shareware model and an always generous partner who has provided both funding and guidance to game studios such as id Software, Parallax Software, Remedy Entertainment, and many others," Nielsen said.

"3D Realms has also developed, co-developed, and co-financed such hits as Commander Keen, Duke Nukem, Wolfenstein 3D, Rise of the Triad, Raptor, Shadow Warrior and Prey. There are only a handful of independent studios with a better track record of original games. Yet even with this stellar track record, we hope we can take the company to new heights."
