A survey by ELSPA (European Leisure Software Publishers Association) has revealed that the average age of games players is a lot higher than you would expect.

The annual market survey revealed that the average age of gamers in Europe is…wait for it…between 25 and 35, a truly surprising statistic.

ELSPA states that this figure is due to the high cost of PC’s, consoles and games. The survey also said that of these ageing gamers, a high percentage of them are single, have a high disposable income, and have few children.

These figures do have to be taken with a pinch of salt however, and may even be seen as erroneous. Last year was the first time in three years that didn’t see a Pokemon-led games market around the world. Though some adults do play Pokemon, the home console-dominated focus on the market of late will have no doubt added to these findings.
