Bleszinski: Sony Forced Microsoft's Hand, Not the Internet Whining
Outspoken and on-hiatus game developer Cliff Bleszinski has taken time out from wandering the earth to comment on the removal of consumer-unfriendly DRM in the Xbox One. He believes that it was Sony, and not "the internet whining" that had forced Microsoft's hand.

Bleszinski has been known to defend Microsoft's policies on multiple occasions, and has rather bullishly taken the fight to those who campaigned against the Xbox One's restrictive DRM. While Microsoft itself said its changes were "a result of feedback from the Xbox community," Cliffy doesn't think this is the case.

"Sony forced Microsoft's hand, not the internet whining," the Gears of War creator posted on Twitter. "At the end of the day many hardcore dislike what was attempted. You can't do well in that space with many of your core unhappy. Especially when users have a choice. The nature of capitalism encourages competition and Sony played into that."

Then, ironically enough, Bleszinski had a bit of a whine himself. "Brace yourselves. More tacked on multiplayer and DLC are coming... You're also about to see available microtransactions skyrocket," he added. "You're going to see digital versions of your favorite games with added 'features' and content to lure you to digital over disc based. 'Do whatever it takes to keep that disc in that tray' is the mantra of developers in a disc based world."

They were ridiculous features, and everyone knew it. So the reason for the u-turn is unimportant. If they hadn't changed their minds, they would have only sold 2 or 3 XBox Ones...
