Epic Games has teamed up with super-science organisation, the Wellcome Trust to creat the 'Make Something Unreal Live (MSUL) 2013, the international game development competition' which is open to all students enrolled full-time at any European higher education establishment.Accordin to Epic, it will be, "accepting game pitches until 2nd November that cleverly play on the theme of Mendelian inheritance, which spans concepts such as variation, mutation and other behaviours of the human genome."
Once you've pitched, you will be expected to use Epic’s Unreal Development Kit (UDK), the free edition of Unreal Engine 3 (UE3), to create new PC games based on their pitches,"@with the ultimate goal of winning a commercial Unreal Engine 4 licence for PC digital distribution."
The Wellcome Trust, a new sponsor, will support team's research into “Mendelian inheritance: genetics and genomics" with a variety of resources throughout the competition, as well as access to scientists and facilities.
The whole thing will see finalists at the Gadget Show Live exhibition in April 2013 - before then, "New prizes in addition to the UE4 commercial licence will be announced."
