Game pirate sent up the river for a two-and-a-half stretch
ELSPA has announced that it has successfully brought a prosecution against a man caught in the production and distribution of copied PlayStation games.

Following a five day trial at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, John Heath, of 445 Victoria Road in Stoke, was sentenced to 30 months in porridge. Also decreed by the court was the seizure of all of Heath’s equipment, including over 600 genuine PlayStation titles.

"ELSPA on behalf of its membership wish to thank Stoke-on-Trent Trading Standards for their continued efforts and determination which has resulted in the sentencing of another pirate,” said ELSPA director Roger Bennett. “ELSPA's dedicated anti-piracy unit is determined to rid the streets of these counterfeit con-men. The outcome of this case is an excellent example of the achievements that can be seen following the multi agency approaches which are conducted throughout the country and should be a clear warning to all those who may be tempted in becoming involved with this illegal activity."

Heath is expected to serve over a year in jail.
