[b]Troubled THQ has filed five CTOs (Confidentiality Treatment Orders) with the SEC in the USA. This has made some pundits start talking about 'harmful information that must be hidden'.[b]
Happily for THQ and sadly for the doom merchants, a quick bit of research on publicly available data enables us to reveal the full 'horror' of the CTOs.
1) First
nip over to the SEC and its searchable archives like we did.
2) This reveals that the CTOs are:
- Confidential treatment order Acc-no: 9999999997-12-000674 (34 Act)
- Confidential treatment order Acc-no: 9999999997-12-000667 (34 Act)
- Confidential treatment order Acc-no: 9999999997-12-000666 (34 Act)
- Confidential treatment order Acc-no: 9999999997-12-000665 (34 Act)
- Confidential treatment order Acc-no: 9999999997-12-000664 (34 Act)
So, what dark, nasty info lurks within?
The first one requests, "an extension of a previous grant of confidential treatment for information it excluded from the Exhibits to a Form 10-Q filed on February 5, 2009."
The second requests, "an extension of a previous grant of confidential treatment for information it excluded from the Exhibits to a Form 10-K filed on June 4, 2010."
The third requests, "an extension of a previous grant of confidential treatment for information it excluded from the Exhibits to a Form 10-Q filed on November 6, 2008."
The fourth requests, "an extension of a previous grant of confidential treatment for information it excluded from the Exhibits to a Form 10-K filed on May 30, 2007."
The fifth requests, "an extension of a previous grant of confidential treatment for information it excluded from the Exhibits to a Form 10-Q filed on February 8, 2007."
So, these are CTOs that don't relate to
recent news and job cuts but are restatements of previous requests.
It's boring news, much more boring than scaremongering, but nevertheless those are the facts. And we wish THQ good luck employing people as well as navigating the naysayers.
