It may well have had its issues but PSN now seems to be in rude health, especially when it comes to British developers. In a survey conducted by industry trade group Tiga, nearly double the amount of UK studios are currently working on projects for Sony's platform as opposed to XBLA.With thirty groups creating for PSN and only sixteen working on something for the Microsoft service, the data shows a marked decline in UK-based game creation for Xbox Live Arcade. On the other hand PSN games are rising while content for WiiWare is maintaining a steady but small stream.
The results could be skewed, of course. Sony has a handful of studios in the UK that are in full swing while Microsoft has only two but – interestingly – all three consoles are losing ground to mobile and internet-based gaming. With Facebook games consistently increasing in popularity and iOS apparently being one of the biggest gaming platforms out there, it's no surprise that studios are going where the money is.
