As the first details come in of the launch in America of the Xbox, it seems certain that Microsoft will achieve a blanket sell-out within the first day. Of the 300,000 consoles it had ready for launch, analysts believe that Microsoft will sell out across the country in the first day.
Morgan Stanley, the financial analyst group, says that although Xbox will continue to sell through, Microsoft still stands to be out of pocket to the tune of $2 billion for the next three years.
Microsoft has today announced plans to ship 100,000 units per week to American retail, over the next year. Its target is a total shipment of between 1 million and 1.5 million consoles by the end of the year.
