Japanese Hardware: is it Time to Kill the PSP Go?
The Japanese Hardware Chart (24th - 30th January 2011, courtesy Media Create) hasn’t had nearly as much of a radical shakeup as its Software cousin. In fact, the whole thing has barely moved at all, with platforms performing similarly to how they were last week.

Hardware Chart - Home Console
PS3: 25,419 (23,792)
Wii: 19,448 (14,547)

360: 3,513 (2,338)

PS2: 1,938 (1,836)

Hardware Chart - Handheld
PSP: 34,648 (35,636)

DSi LL: 11,891 (11,720)

DSi: 9,611 (8,990)

DS Lite: 1,059 (1,528)

PSP Go: 280 (198)

News of the NGP certainly hasn’t distracted potential PSP owners from snapping up new hardware, especially when there are convincing reasons such as Valkyria Chronicles 3, Kenka Bancho and… erm, My Little Sister Can’t Be This Cute to buy one. Certainly the influx of new games for the platform is the reason for its continued presence at the top of the portable chart, even though it saw a small drop in sales from the week before.

Almost every platform saw lifts thanks to compelling new software releases, with the exception of the PSP and DS Lite. The PSP Go saw a sales boost this week, but that only pushed it up to a microscopic 280 units sold. That’s just sad. It should probably just be put out of its beautiful misery now.
