It's definitely another PlayStation week in the Japanese Hardware Chart (5th - 11th April 2010, courtesy of Media Create), despite almost every platform seeing another drop in sales. The gap between the PS3 and Wii is closing, with Sony's console just managing 3,628 units over its rival.Home ConsolePS3: 28,973 (38,877)
Wii: 25,345 (30,938)
360: 3,218 (2,676)
PS2: 1,425 (1,815)
HandheldPSP: 29,766 (37,445)
DSi LL: 19,372 (21,583)
DSi: 13,738 (15,526)
DS Lite: 3,349 (4,110)
PSP Go: 1,826 (1,803)
(Previous week's unit sales in brackets for comparison)
The charts do see marginal gains for the underdogs though – the Xbox 360 earning itself an extra 500 or so purchases while the PSP Go increases its week-on-week sales number by a paltry 23 units. Still, every little helps eh?
The PSP 1000 series is still king of the handheld castle though, even if it is really only being propped up by continued sales of
Monster Hunter Portable and
Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2010. The DS family manages to collectively outsell the PSP by a safe 5,000 units, but DSi LL sales have dropped to below the 20K level. Is there anything that could give the platform a positive boost?
So yes, pretty depressing all round really. Just like the
Software Chart.
