ELSPA Reveals Lobbying Focus For Next Government
UK trade body ELSPA has announced that it will continue to lobby for the computer game industry's interests throughout the duration of the next UK Parliament, and outlined several key topics that it will push in Westminster.

Chief of these is in the petitioning for more national industry incentives and tax breaks, and a heavy advertising campaign that will educate the public about game age ratings. The latter is a particularly important point given that PEGI has been granted legal backing as the sole method of games classification.

Other areas of interest include tackling IP theft, encouraging computer science undergraduate courses, detailing the benefits of activity games as part of a healthy lifestyle and the use of computers in technology training.

“It is essential to capitalise on our new-found fame in SW1 and continue to work hard to ensure that all areas of our industry are supported by Government," said ELSPA director general Michael Rawlinson. “During our policy development we have taken time to discuss their content with all three major parties to ensure that they are achievable and in-keeping with each party manifesto for the creative industries.

"We are therefore confident that, whoever wins the election, our next Minister will know not only about the cultural and economic importance of our industry but the support we require to ensure our continued success.”
