Senior Microsoft Xbox Executive to Go
After 19 years with the company, Microsoft's corporate vice president of Strategy and Business Development for the Interactive Entertainment Business, Shane Kim, must have seen his shares vest and is now a millionaire. Otherwise, why else would he retire from the company? Shane will be replaced by general manager of Microsoft Game Studios, Phil Spencer.

Before becoming Microsoft's corporate vice president of Strategy and Business Development for the Interactive Entertainment Business (he works with Xbox) Shane Kim was VP of Microsoft Game Studios and played a key role in marketing the Xbox from its earliest days.

Farewell Shane Kim. We will miss such gems as:

"We knew the recession was coming, but we are now adding 500,000 new members to our online games service each month." July 2009.

"(An Xbox 360 redesign) is not something we ever did in the first generation, but it is a possibility this generation. Well it's not a big leap of faith to say look, that that's a significant possibility. But there's nothing to announce..." May 2008.

"It's (the Xbox 360 Core) definitely here to stay. We've got a great line up from Core to Elite, and there's that set of customers that want the lower price point who want the vast majority of the functionality of the Xbox 360, and you get that with the Core." August 2007.

We especially enjoyed his run-in with Fox News.

Welcome to the role Phil Spencer.
