THQ-owned Big Huge Games has suffered severe job cuts, according to Develop.
The publication cites 'sources', though none are named. It writes that the studio has suffered "a huge amount of layoffs".
A statement from THQ a couple of weeks ago told us, "THQ informed the staff at its Big Huge Games studio in Timonium, MD, that it plans to close the studio if a sale is not completed in the near future."
It is unclear whether the layoffs are part of plans to close the studio or an attempt to pare it down and keep it running. SPOnG has contacted THQ for comment, but none was available at the time of publication.
Big Huge Games is known for its work on strategy games such as Age of Empires and Rise of Nations. It most recently made the Xbox Live Arcade title, Catan.
