Mass Effect fans who want more of the game to sink their teeth into will soon be able to get it. Microsoft has just announced that it will be releasing the first downloadable content for the Sci-Fi RPG in March.
The new pack will go by the name 'Bring Down the Sky' and will see release on March 10th at 10am (GMT). It will offer somewhere in the region of 90 minutes of play and include an Achievement worth 50 Gamerscore points. 400 Microsoft Points is what it will cost you.
So, what exactly does the pack offer? We'll let Microsoft tell you. "'Bring Down the Sky' includes a new uncharted world that introduces the notorious and feared alien race of the Batarians. A Batarian extremist group has hijacked a mobile asteroid station in the Asgard system, setting it on a collision course with the nearby colony world of Terra Nova. Only Commander Shepard can save the millions of innocent civilians before the asteroid completes its deadly descent."
So, there you go: Millions of innocent folk... Asteroid... Only you can save them. This reminds SPOnG of the time NASA called us up and asked us to head up into space to drill into an asteroid in order to drop a nuke down the hole and save mankind from an extinction event.
SPOnG does have its misgivings about the content, however. As 'expert' psychologist Cooper Lawrence so
helpfully pointed out on Fox News, "We know that all the research shows violence has a desensitising effect. Well, sexuality does too".
So, we've already been desensitised by sexuality - yeah, sexuality, it's so... 'Wot-eva'.
We're now concerned that we'll be desensitised by asteroids. SPOnG's concerned that next time NASA calls us up to prevent a celestial body hitting the Earth, we'll just say "Meh" and then shout at some unfortunate woman to get us another beer.
