According to MediaCreate's latest figures, while Nintendo's Wii and DS continue to dominate the Japanese hardware chart, the PS3's sales show signs of recovery, breaking that
'psychological' 10,000 units per week' barrier we reported on June 6th this year .In the most recent weekly sales period, the PS3 racked up 11,914 sales, while the PSP's sales were up 5,357 on the previous week (taking it to 38,305) and the PS2 improved on last week by 4,354 (boosting it to 16,316).
The news will no doubt offer some mild relief for Sony. In June the PS3 was out sold by the
Wii six-to-one in Japan, while the company has announced a
de-facto price cut for the hardware.
While Sony maybe happier with its lot, the DS and Wii still lead the way, with the handheld notching up 157,435 sales and the Wii finding its way into 73,919 new homes.
The 360 continues to languish in the dust behind its counterparts, with just 3,154 units sold.
