New from Datel is a USB radio device for the PlayStation 2. If you are a lucky owner of Sony’s new console, you can use this new device to listen to music through your television. Datel has been providing third party products for consoles and computers since the 8-bit days. Its most popular product, the Action Replay game enhancement cartridge, enables players to make customisations to their favourite games.
If you enjoy listening to music but don’t have a hi-fi in the same room as your computer, this radio device could be the music solution you are looking for. Additionally, if your television uses Dolby Surround sound, you will be able to listen to sounds of the charts in full five-speaker glory. The majority of modern recorded music uses Dolby encoding to spilt instruments and vocals up to simulate a live sound.
Radio stations and settings can be saved to the PlayStation 2’s memory card and because the tuner uses USB technology, setting it up takes seconds. Datel’s USB radio tuner will be out at the end of February.
