NCsoft, the world’s leading developer and publisher of online computer games has selected Redbus Interhouse Germany, a division of Europe’s most advanced, independent colocation and managed services provider, to provide colocation and business continuity services for it’s audience of online gamers throughout Europe.

The launch of its European company and the choice of Redbus Interhouse as its colocation partner takes NCsoft one step closer to constructing a global network for online game services.

NCsoft Europe is a division of Korea-based NCsoft Corporation, developers and publishers of innovative online gaming products such as the highly successful Lineage II and City of Heroes. NCsoft launched Lineage II in Europe in November 2004, with City of Heroes scheduled for early February 2005. After that, the company will continue to service new games with the objective of establishing itself as a leading online game company in the European region by the end of 2005.

Redbus Interhouse Germany was selected to partner NCsoft as a result of its substantial infrastructure, centralised location and quality of services. To service the highly demanding and bandwidth hungry gaming community NCsoft requires excellent connectivity options to a variety of network providers such as Deutsche Telecom, AOL and Tiscali. It also needed a highly robust service and support infrastructure to maintain APPRO’s high performance Hyperblade servers used to supply the performance levels expected by the gaming market.

Anthony Kenisky, Sales Director, APPRO, commented, “Our blade servers efficiently and cost-effectively increase compute density in Redbus Interhouse’s data centre, enable remote software provisioning and server management - a prerequisite for NCsoft. In fact, Redbus Interhouse is one of the only datacentres in Europe to be able to support the super computing power of our blade servers.”

Redbus Interhouse fulfilled all the criteria specified by NCsoft; a client base of top tier carriers and ISP’s providing the core route to market; multiple levels of redundancy for aspects such as cooling, power and fire suppression; non-stop on site and remote support for continuity of operations; plus an attractive price/performance package.

Martin Essig, Country Manager, Redbus Interhouse Germany commented, “Online gaming is a huge and rapidly growing business, especially here in Germany. However it requires high levels of guaranteed performance, which in turn demands an established infrastructure. NCsoft chose Redbus Interhouse because it recognised we could offer the levels of network connectivity, professional 24 hour support and expansion potential they need.”

Sebastian Vidal, COO, from NCsoft Europe said, “The gaming market is highly sophisticated and games are becoming more graphic intensive and resource hungry. We need partners like Redbus Interhouse with the ability and expertise to provide the level of service to support this new generation of games and deliver them to our core markets. We have been very impressed with the Redbus Interhouse colocation model and the quality of its people. This now forms the springboard for our growth in Europe.”
