Oxygen Interactive and developer Atomic Planet Entertainment reopen the history books and send players straight back to the hell of '68 with Vietnam: The Tet Offensive.
This brand new first-person war epic recreates all the tension and ferocity of combat in the Vietnam War, pitting players against the merciless Viet Cong and deadly North Vietnamese Army as they play through 13 days of the Tet Offensive, one of the bloodiest battles of the entire Vietnam War.
On the eve of the Tet Offensive a young Special Forces operative is sent to recover a CIA officer from Chau Doc, near the Cambodian border. Unfortunately for him, the Vietnamese get there first. It's up to you to retrieve and rescue the CIA agent before the Communists can smuggle him over the border to North Vietnam, while the biggest enemy offensive of the Vietnam War is unleashed and all hell is breaking loose around you.
Featuring an innovative health system, where every action causes fatigue, players need to pace themselves to ensure they have the energy for the brutal combat ahead. Taking damage will cause fatigue levels to increase much more quickly and also impair movement and firing accuracy. Luckily non-fatal wounds can be healed, thus giving soldiers back their edge in the field.
Vehicles feature heavily throughout each sweat- and blood-soaked mission and in addition to an authentic arsenal at their command, combatants can unleash rocket fire and even call in devastating air strikes. The environments, vehicles and even the missions themselves have all been historically researched to bring the conflict to vibrant and violent life and immerse you into the terrifying midst of the Vietnam War like no other first-person shooter.
Vietnam: The Tet Offensive is a game so real you can smell the napalm. Available on PlayStation 2 and PC, it is developed by Atomic Planet Entertainment and will be published by Oxygen Interactive on September 24th, priced £19.99.
