Sports Interactive and Eidos Interactive are looking forward to a very merry Christmas indeed as it seems the demand for Championship Manager: Season 01/02 shows no sign of abating. In fact, the best-selling update to the world’s favourite PC football management game has just been voted by Family Toys and Games Magazine as the most-wanted sports game for families this Christmas.
Championship Manager: Season 01/02 went ahead of the big licences in the ‘Hot 50 Video Games for Christmas 2001’ list, such as FIFA, WWF and David Beckham, to secure the number two spot – second only to the much-hyped Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
The list was compiled by Family Toys and Games Magazine, who used 38 families, with a total of 92 children, in focus tests to test and rate over 600 toys available this Christmas.
Miles Jacobson, Managing Director of Sports Interactive said, “We are very pleased to have been selected by so many families as the top sports computer game for Christmas. It just goes to show how far reaching the Champ Man phenomenon has become.”
Jonathan Rosenblatt, Marketing Manager at Eidos added, “Its inclusion in this ‘most wanted’ list is further proof that Championship Manager is one of the most popular games in the mainstream games market.”
Championship Manager: Season 01/02 was released on October 12th and smashed sales records by selling over 103,000 units in the first weekend. To see what all the fuss is about, log onto www.sigames.com.
