Sports Interactive (the development team responsible for the worldwide phenomenon that is Championship Manager) and Eidos Interactive are excited to announce Championship Manager Quiz. The game will be released for Christmas 2001 on PlayStation and PC.
Championship Manager Quiz uses the popular multiple-choice format of questioning, and contains over 11,000 questions to keep football fanatics glued to their seats. The questions concentrate on domestic football from the English and Scottish divisions, but international football is covered as well. Plans for localised versions (with localised questions) in other football-mad territories are afoot, with releases anticipated for spring 2002.
Footie masterminds will relish the chance to flex their trivia muscles in one of the single player options, where fans can challenge the computer in ‘Exhibition’ mode, or can test their own endurance in ‘Keepy Uppy’ to answer as many questions as they can.
But the real fun in Championship Manager Quiz is saved for the multi-player games. Two players can tackle questions that should prove, once and for all, who really is the king of football trivia. Players have three options should they be caught offside by a question: ‘One-two’ allows players to remove two wrong answers, ‘Hit & Hope’ gives players two chances to answer a particular brain-teaser and ‘Substitution’ changes the question completely.
Should that not be enough to sate armchair pundits, there is even a unique ‘Pub Quiz’ mode. Teams in living rooms, university halls and pubs the width and breadth of the land can square up against each other for the ultimate gang o’ mates challenge. Saturday nights may never be the same again.
Not only is Championship Manager Quiz Sports Interactive’s first release for a console (Championship Manager: Season 01/02 on Xbox won’t be hitting the stores until spring 2002), it is also the first time that the team has released a non-football management title. The unrivalled heritage of the Championship Manager series has set the standard for football management simulations across the world. With the depth of knowledge that the team has acquired over the past 10 years whilst working on the Championship Manager series, the SI team is understandably confident that they have a sure fire winner on their hands.
Miles Jacobson, Managing Director of Sports Interactive commented, “At Sports Interactive we are sticking to what we know we do best – making football games that we want to play ourselves. By doing that, we have consistently managed to produce games that other people want to play too. It really is that simple. And we’re very happy that we’ve done that again with CM Quiz. We’re already playing the alpha version after The Premiership!”
Discussions for a Game Boy Advance version of Championship Manager Quiz have already kicked-off, but a release date and publisher have yet to be confirmed.
Championship Manager Quiz was designed by Sports Interactive and is being developed in conjunction with King of the Jungle.
