Sports Interactive and Eidos Interactive have struck an OEM deal with The Daily Telegraph, whereby the broadsheet giant is offering a free copy of a special version of Championship Manager: Season 00/01 to every reader who registers for its Telegraph Fantasy Football game.

Miles Jacobson, Managing Director of Sports Interactive, explains: “We are tremendously excited to be involved with the Telegraph. This promotion gives us an excellent opportunity to target fantasy football fans who may not have had a chance to play Championship Manager before. We anticipate that there will be over 250,000 players involved in the Telegraph’s competition, and that’s a huge new audience for the next season update of Championship Manager, which is advertised heavily whenever players log-out of this version.

“Interestingly, in the two weeks that this promotion has been up and running, sales of the current season update have not been affected at all, which vindicates our assertion that we are reaching entirely new potential customers. We are looking forward to bringing these new customers into the thriving Championship Manager community.”

The Telegraph Fantasy Football competition gives would-be managers the chance to pit their management skills against other Telegraph readers across the country to compete for the title of Telegraph Fantasy Football Manager of the Year – and a whopping first prize of £50,000 (there are also runners-up prizes of £10,000 and £5,000 and a number of weekly prizes on offer).

To enter the Telegraph Fantasy Football, which is heavily promoted within the best-selling broadsheet newspaper, readers simply visit the website (www.telegraphfantasyfootball.co.uk) and register there for a fee of £3 per team selected. Registered managers then receive their players’ pack, which includes a print-out of their selected team, eight transfer cards, an exclusive guide to the season and, of course, a copy of the best-selling PC football management simulation Championship Manager: Season 00/01.

The competition will run until mid-September and is being supported by a huge promotional campaign in the newspaper and on the web site at www.telegraphfantasyfootball.co.uk.
