Future Publishing Bins PlayStation Magazine
Following news yesterday that Future Publishing was not going to release audited circulation figures for its video game titles because audits are too expensive, it's now closed PSW magazine.

Says the company, "It’s always incredibly sad when we close a title as established as PSW, but the decision was taken in response to decreasing demand,” games portfolio publishing director James Binns explained.

“By focusing our efforts on Official PlayStation Magazine and a single independent PlayStation title in PSM3, we can strengthen our position in delivering the number one and number two print titles in the sector.

“We continue to invest in our traditional print brands, but games is a rapidly changing sector, so our portfolio needs to constantly evolve to meet the needs of consumers in a vibrant and diverse market.”

One member of staff is being retained while the company awaits to place the remaining staff.

we live in the world of tinternets, I'm surprised people still read the mags

I stopped buying single format mag ages ago, and instead just listen to podcasts, use the net instead.
The only mags we need are Edge and Games TM, for console stuff. Games mags are cool, but when the net fill most of the gaps, only these two U.K games mags are it.

I'm surprised a mag for a floundering console, has lasted this long. Still, I'd rather PSW go so the likes of Edge can get more focus. Times are tough, and fat needs trimming.
