Summary

Skiing is the grand daddy of all winter sports. Sure, those crazy types from the snowy places used to ski to do things like get to work and hunt, but when the folk from Telemark in Norway got involved they made it fun with downhill skiing. With skiing having been fun for a hundred years or so now, it seems about time that the sport found its way onto the Wii for a full downhill experience.

Having the property of being fun was not enough to get skiing onto the Wii on its own, however. Namco Bandai was waiting for something else to come along – the Balance Board! If there is a more perfect game type to make use of the Wii's pressure-controlled peripheral, we've yet to come across it.

So it is that players can now take to the slopes in Family Ski, with the Balance Board providing the most intuitive control system you could imagine for the game. Players can get involved in ski school, freestyle skiing, moguls and slaloms, photography, and a host of other events as they hit the hill.

If you don't own a Balance Board, however, fear not! The game can also be controlled using the (slightly) more traditional control combo of the Wii Remote and Nunchuck.

If the hot weather starts to get to you, give Family Ski a whirl. It's the perfect summer chillout!
