Summary

War's a dirty business. It takes you to all kinds of mucky places - deserts, jungles, trenches and the like. People will get up to all kinds of nasty practices to have their way, too. That's why, sometimes, conventional troops just won't do and wars get outsourced to hired guns - mercenaries.

When freelance gun-for-hire Thomas Mason is on a routine escort mission that goes horribly wrong, he finds himself neck-deep in just such a conflict, fighting extremists to exact revenge.

Soldier of Fortune Payback takes its predecessors and ramps things up a notch, throwing players into a tense and often gruesome warzone. Body parts flying and enemies crawling around trying to get hold of missing limbs are not a rare sight in Payback.

This first-person shooter boasts more than 30 weapons, including sub-machine guns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, projectile explosives and weapon attachments.

The game also packs a host of online modes for up to 12 players, including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Elimination, Team Elimination, Capture the Flag, and Demolition. Other online include specialist multiplayer maps, persistent online stat tracking and a whole host of server options to customise your online experience.
