Summary

Tom Clancy has made an impression not only in the book and film worlds, but in the field of video games too. His covert-style stories, particularly Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six, have been immensely popular as video games. And as one of his most famous novels, The Sum of all Fears, hits the big screen, Red Storm has brought the interactive equivalent to PC.

There's a terrorist operation in the works, and being the elite FBI anti-terrorism team leader, you're the one responsible for bringing this global atrocity to a happy end. And just think, if it weren't for the American's no negotiation policy on terrorist matters, you wouldn't be playing this game at all. Woo-hoo!

But at the core, the PC version of The Sum of all Fears is a hardcore first-person stealth-em-up game similar to the SWAT series of games. The game has 11 exceptionally large missions for you to master. Gameplay elements include making the best use of the latest anti-terrorist weaponry, hiding from the enemy, freeing hostages, destroying illegal weapons caches and planting bugs. The experience is at worst, diverse, and at best, sheer genius.

But the more sociable games-playing community mightn't be content with vast involving single-player missions, so Red Storm has included several dedicated multi-player sections (playable ubi.com). This part of the game caters for both competitive and co-operative aficionados of the FPS community and is perhaps the most enjoyable experience in The Sum of all Fears.

Whichever you prefer, Ubi Soft and Red Storm's latest Tom Clancy development has everything you'll need from a FPS game, and more.
