"War! Urgh! Good Gaw! What is it good faw!?" You know how the rest goes. While most war games of a video variety tend to focus on World War II or the high-pitched and even higher velocity battles - fictional or not - of the modern era, the Shellshock series has gone where few others have dared - Vietnam.

The story goes along the lines of you following a plane, carrying a top secret consignment dubbed 'Whiteknight' which has crashed in the Vietnamese jungle. A bunch of special ops soldiers were sent in, but systematically disappeared. A month later, one of them turns up alive but completely bonkers, and who wouldn't be alarmed by that? In time-honoured fashion, it's time to reach for your firearm and shoot stuff.

Boy, do you shoot stuff!

Because, if being at war wasn't bad enough, whatever made the survivor so deranged has followed them out, and it won't just be the guys you were shooting at yesterday (you know, the 'VCs in the tree line!') that you have to defend yourself against - it will be the victims of Whiteknight, too.

Blasting away at the enemy in true first-person shooter style, you might start to feel this is more like a horror movie than a video game, and that's why Shellshock 2: Blood Trails is so compelling.
