Summary

Ever wondered what it would be like to score that match winning try against New Zealand or scrum down against the Aussies? Well, all this and more is possible in Rugby League 2. Get ready to play one of the toughest contact sports in the world on your Xbox.

Building on the game engine used in the first game of the series, Sidhe Interactive has created a sequel packed with many new features. All the major teams and competitions are available, including the NRL (Australia and New Zealand), European SuperLeague (with 2006 teams Les Catalans, Castleford and Harlequins RL), State of Origin, City versus Country and 17 different International teams, which include New Zealand, Australia, Great Britain, France and the US Tomahawks. In Rugby League 2 there are 40 real stadiums from various countries around the world, including Stadium Australia; Mt Smart Stadium, New Zealand; City of Manchester Stadium, England; and Aimé-Giral stadium in Perpignan, France.

Rugby League 2 offers brand new gameplay features like video referee, enhanced AI, ball stripping, shoulder barges, pass to playmaker, diving on and kicking the loose ball, contesting the high ball and more. If there is controversial play during a match, like whether or not a player has grounded the ball successfully when they have scored a try, the video referee that will make the final decision on the matter. There is also a 10 year Franchise Mode, with contract management, injuries, mid season representative games and judiciary. Animation is even more lifelike in this installment of the series, due to Weta Digital, the visual effects wizards behind The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.

The original Rubgy League was the biggest selling game ever in Australia and New Zealand, where they like this kind of thing. But they like Hobbits and Orcs too and it outsold Lord of the Rings, that's surely a testimony to the quality you can expect from Rugby League 2.

Rugby League 2 gives you the oppotunity to go head to head against a friend with the multiplayer online play. It is also possible to edit players, teams and competitions, which should add to the longevity of the game.
