Building on the game engine used in the first game of the series, Sidhe Interactive has created a sequel packed with many new features. All the major teams and competitions are available, including the NRL, European SuperLeague (with 2006 teams Les Catalans, Castleford and Harlequins RL), State of Origin, City versus Country and 17 different International teams, which include New Zealand, Australia, Great Britain, France and the US Tomahawks. In Rugby League 2 there are 40 real stadiums from countries around the world, including Australia, New Zealand, the UK and France.
Rugby League 2 offers brand new gameplay features like video referee, enhanced AI, ball stripping, shoulder barges, pass to playmaker, diving on and kicking the loose ball, contesting the high ball and more. There is also a 10 year Franchise Mode, with contract management, injuries, mid season representative games and judiciary. Animation is even more lifelike in this installment of the series, due to Weta Digital, the VFX wizards behind The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy.
