The infamous blue hedgehog and Sega mascot Sonic has been around for more than a decade now. And though in the early days it looked as if he would be confined to Sega platforms, the company's brush with death changed things. Soon after, the platforming super hero was making appearances on all platforms, and now he's even made his way onto Nokia's much-vaunted N-gage.
This latest handheld outing, as expected, remains a 2D affair in similar vain to the 16-bit efforts from Sega. Gaming locales are varied, but take place in typically themed locations such as beaches, ice mountains and even outer space.
On this occasion players are able to assume control of several well-known Sonic heroes, including Tails, Knuckles and Amy, through a total of five zones split into several acts. As ever, the Chaos emeralds and the unscrupulous Dr Robotnik make a return, as do rings, Badniks and the spin-dash.
It's clearly more of the same, but it was great back then, and it's still good fun now.
