Summary

'Yo!' reads the blurb to the Game Boy Advance version of EA's popular snowboarding title. And a fine introduction that is, setting the scene perfectly for the super-fresh, funky, extreme trick-athon that is SSX Tricky.

Bringing all the intense snowboarding action of the big home console versions to Nintendo's portable plaything, SSX Tricky on GBA offers up all the insane uber-tricks, surreal worlds, and weird and wonderful characters. Again, the emphasis is on big tricks, big air and, judging by the guy on the box, big hair.

A vast array of trick moves and combos are at your fingertips, letting you do your fair share of showing off if you can catch enough air. New uber-tricks for each player take air play to the next level with flips, twirls, kicks, spins and much more. Rack up the points on your way down the course and take home a medal for style.

Throughout the game, you get to travel the globe, visiting 10 different worlds, each featuring a big course with bigger vertical drops. Each of the original PS2 courses, including Garibaldi, Aloha Ice Jam, Mesablanca, and Tokyo Megaplex, has been included and revamped, with new routes, jumps, obstacles and other surprises thrown in for good measure. Also making a return is the cast of international boarders - 12 in all - including favourites such as Edie, Elise, Moby and Kaori.

SSX Tricky is a well respected snowboard game on the other consoles. Its healthy mix of crazy characters, extreme environments and exaggerated airborne escapades are just what the Game Boy Advance needs.

'Yo!' indeed.
