Summary

Already available for the PC for some time now, Jedi knight II has finally arrived on the home consoles, giving gamers the opportunity to enjoy all the benefits of the Jedi powers they've always dreamed of. It's a first-person shooter, set in George Lucas' brilliant fantasy universe and brimming with lightsabers, laser guns and all the rest. It's about time!

The story begins several years after Kyle avenged his father's death and saved the valley of the Jedi from Jerec. Either too tired or just plain fed up with the whole Jedi idea, he decides it's time to call it a day and hang up his lightsaber, but a new threat to the galaxy is on the horizon, so it seems gardening and crown green bowls will have to wait.

As any Star Wars fan will attest, the best thing in the world ever would be to have your very own lightsaber. Rumours have circulated in the past suggesting that scientists somewhere are trying to develop one but the closest you're going to get for the time being is in this game. Lightsabers play a large part in the proceedings and provide the protagonist with a versatile array of offensive and defensive moves. Kyle can use the weapon to attack enemies and deflect laser shots. As he progresses through the game, he becomes more proficient at this and can even deflect shots back where they came from. Wow!

As any accomplished Jedi would be, Kyle is aware of the light and dark sides of the force and you can choose which path he follows. Naturally, the decision you make will affect the abilities and skills that he possesses or can attain. It will also tell you a great deal about your true self, which is something that has quizzed Star Wars fans ever since Luke was first offered the chance to join his father.

What would you do? It's a tough decision.
