Summary

International Superstar Soccer Pro Evolution 2 is finally available on the PlayStation. We’re pleased to say that the wait has been more than worth it. This new version of ISS, is the most refined version ever. Football, marvellous, isn’t it?

Pro Evolution 2 is easily the best football simulation game on the market. FIFA is also fantastic but it opts for a more arcade style of gameplay. With ISS you feel like you really are playing a game of International football. The control method is complicated, but you will soon get used to it with a little practice. That’s not to say you can’t get by using just a few buttons, but if you want to be fancy learning a few button combinations will help. You can even assign strategies to the L2 button, off-side traps and counter attacks can be quickly implemented. The strategies make you feel like you in control of a team, not just a player.

The secret to success in football or football games is control. ISS allows you to control the ball almost perfectly; quick accurate passes, through ball into space, cross from the corner and finish off with a devastating volley. When you master aftertouch, you can add spin to the ball, which changes its mid-air trajectory. Bet the keeper didn’t see that one coming.

ISS Pro Evolution 2 has support for up to four-players and that makes it a great party game. Of course you need the optional multi-tap, but if you have the necessary equipment, the multi-player modes are not to be missed.

Pro Evolution 2 has it all, smooth graphics, solid gameplay and decent commentary. If you love football games, do not miss out on this one.
