Summary

It was inevitable that after the phenomenal success of the Teletubbies, another fluorescent family of fun would hit children’s television. Not content with the level of success achieved by the Tweenies already, the BBC’s interactive division produced a video game conversion, cleverly titled Tweenies: Game Time. Obviously and solely designed for a very young audience, Game Time gives the youngest of children a fun playing experience. The four main characters, Jake, Fizz, Milo and Bella, are in full force and ready to entertain.

Although Game Time doesn’t have any significant graphical prowess, it is extremely bright and colourful and immediately attractive. Navigating through the game is also very simple, restricting the use of the controller to just four buttons. It is very apparent that Intelligent Games has taken the game’s target audience into careful consideration.

After selecting one of the game’s main characters you will have the choice to participate in a number of games and challenges. These games cover a variety of popular genres, including flight and puzzle, although the missions within the levels aren’t too taxing. Although each character has their own world of games, any player can tackle the world of their choice. Each level comes complete with a voiceover from the chosen character that explains how to play each game. It doesn’t get any simpler than this. In some levels you must collect musical instruments and make a tune, while in others, your challenge is to avoid bats and solve puzzles. The options are plentiful, to say the least.

Tweenies Game Time hits its target audience perfectly. It’s a pleasure to play and would make an ideal gift to young owners of a PlayStation. Parents, time to go shopping.
