Following in the footsteps of the multi-award-winning Tweenies - Ready to Play on PC CD-ROM, Tweenies - Game Time on PlayStation also looks set to capture the imaginations of children aged three years and up with this selection of engaging activities. Guided by Milo, Jake, Fizz and Bella, young players will find the same sense of fun and involvement as in the bright and colourful BBC television series.

The Tweenies was launched in September 1999 and is the BBC's fastest-selling children's television show to date. Securing the lion's share of the ratings with an average of 50% of the four- to six-year-old audience tuning in daily to the adventures of the Tweenies on BBC ONE and TWO, the show has shown true staying power in the popularity stakes. The television show has also secured the trust of parents nationwide, with 90% of parents with children aged three to five years old saying that they trust the Tweenies to entertain their children and make learning fun.

The sell-out Tweenies Live Show, which commenced in December 2000 and continues to tour through major regional centres within the UK until April 2001, will be seen by a massive 350, 000 people, beating ticket sales from the likes of Britney Spears and Robbie Williams in recent concerts! Tweenies mania was also confirmed by the success of the first Tweenies single "No 1", which spent eight weeks in the top ten late last year.

The Tweenies - Ready to Play CD-ROM topped the Children's CD-ROM charts in 2000 and is still holding the top spot ten months after its release. It also received two highly acclaimed gold awards last year - the BIMA Award in the Home Reference/Home Learning category and the Right Start Best Toy Awards in the Software category.

Research undertaken by BBC Worldwide among children who watch Tweenies revealed that singing and dancing are major factors in the success of the show. Tweenies - Game Time builds on these core activities by drawing on the idea of building a fantasy world, involving players in a number of games which encourage imaginative interactive learning. Children get to pick their favourite Tweenies character, choose any of the following games then go off and create their own fantasy world:

1. Jake's Dot World - Fly your favourite Tweenie through a world where all the colour has been gobbled up by mysterious colour eating monsters! Find all the objects that are black and white and put the colour back into them!

2. Fizz's Disco - Help your Tweenie copy Fizz as she dances to the disco music. Can you remember all the moves as she grooves around the dance floor? Players can also make up their own dance routine for their favourite Tweenie!

3. Milo's Space Race - Race through space in Milo's special rocket ship, collecting the musical instruments that are flying around you as you go before time runs out! Then make your very own tune with them…

4. Bella's Fairy Castle - Welcome to Bella's castle…but your Tweenie needs a fairy costume to enter it! Help your Tweenie collect parts of these costumes by completing puzzles and activities. The further you get through the castle, the more parts of the costumes you can collect!

Dave Lee, Director of BBC Multimedia comments: "The Tweenies are a great success story, and it is our intention to extend that impressive record into the world of gaming for the early learning sector. Bob the Builder has already shown that there is a demand for products for younger children on the PlayStation platform, with the title remaining in the top thirty chart today."
