Summary

The history of the RPG is a long one to say the least, from the days of text-based role-playing to the up-to-date, graphically enhanced representations of the new millennium. One of the most impressive examples in the latter category is Rune.

After being in development for quite some time, the release of Rune came with no little hype. The decision to produce Rune using a third-person perspective should prove to be a popular one among the game-playing public. Although Rune is definitely an role-player, first impressions are of Tomb Raider, in presentation if nothing else. Graphically, Rune is an excellent title, has some highly detailed textures and some fantastic light sourcing effects, provided you have a decent accelerator card. Combat plays an important role in Rune, and upon your exploration of the 3D world, you should take any weapons you find and use them to your advantage. If you don’t, you probably wont make it very far into the game.

Rune seemed to be in development for ages before its release, and we’re happy to report that it’s been worth waiting for.
