Summary

World Championship Snooker for the Sony Playstation is your chance to take on the best players in the world in your very own living room. There are twenty top pros to play against including Ronnie O’Sullivan, Steven Hendry and Mark Williams. Their characters and playing styles are accurately represented even down to how they handle shots under pressure. Snooker is a game of skill, intelligence and concentration and that’s what it takes to be successful in this game.

World Championship Snooker is an extremely satisfying and enjoyable game to play. Thanks to a unique aiming system it’s possible to judge the potting angle and the direction the cue ball will take after it makes contact. This is very handy for positioning because different kinds of spin on the cue ball will change the angle of deflection. The more difficult the shot is in real life the less accurate the aiming system becomes.

By holding down the circle button and moving the d-pad you can add topspin, backspin and left, right side. In snooker you need to be thinking two or three shots ahead so it’s necessary to use these techniques to put yourself in a good position for the next shot. With practice and a little bit of luck you could soon be recording your first century.

The ability to create your own player is a good idea because it makes you feel like you’re in the tournaments and the championship. With realistic physics and real life players, World Championship Snooker is great fun whether you are a snooker fan or not.
