The original Grandia, developed by Game Arts, proved to be such a hugely successful RPG that it prompted the development of a sequel that will be published by Rayman Creators, Ubi Soft.
Set at the scene of a giant earthquake, the evil devil, Valmar, has awoken and is once again on a mission to destroy the world. It doesnt take Valmar long to thrust the world into a war between good and evil gods. After discovering his destiny, Ryudo (you) teams up with a host of unexpected heroes and friends to rescue the land from peril.
For the Dreamcast sequel, a Japanese feel has been given to Grandia 2, featuring some lovely cute and colourful graphics. When beginning a game you can have up to four players in your party at any one time. As you progress, the story unfolds in a seemingly complex way, and is showcased with some truly stunning FMV sequences. Regarding actual gameplay, Grandia 2 takes place, expectedly, in full 3D real-time environments. The game also incorporates a tactical battle system that allows for strategic planning and execution of combat manoeuvres with a real-time interface. Typically, Grandia 2 features many fantasy aspects, such as spells, some of which are spectacular to watch. There are also a variety of special attacks and combos that must be learned. Remember: Grandia 2 is a world where magic reigns and monsters lurk.
Grandia 2 places itself alongside some of the greatest RPGs ever to be created. Its an enthralling game that deserves a place at the top of the charts.
