Laziness? Development costs?

Now, maybe it’s because I love spaghetti westerns here, and this game has that feel, or maybe it’s because I watched Blazing Saddles too often as a youngster; but place a game in the old Wild West, give me a colt, a horse, some Indjuns (this is the authentic Western spelling), some cheatin’ and some killin’ and it just makes me happy.

The thing that didn’t make me happy is the fact that I had to replay an old game. Tip of the day? If you’ve played Guns on other formats, do not go out and buy this version unless you are obsessive about completing the set.

I don’t understand why in the year between this version and the original more energy wasn’t put into creating new missions/storylines/subgames. Laziness? Development costs? Whatever the cause, it ruined a great experience.

One thing that must be mentioned… is that there seems to be a massive mistake in the version I played. When you enter the Pause menu, like most PSP games you use the X. When in the PSP save section itself, this should switch to O. Unfortunately, Gun keeps asking to use the O button as the confirmation button. If it's not a coding error, it’s an incredibly annoying ‘undocumented feature’.

SPOnG Score: C

To round up, if you like westerns and have not played Gun before, go for it, you will have lots of fun. If on the other hand you have got a version from another platform, save your money and wait for some originality from a platform that obviously has so much to offer.
